Hey everyone, long-time lurker, first-time poster here.
I just picked up a fantastic-looking JVC HR-D740U VCR, but after playing a couple of my old tapes, the picture has some really noticeable horizontal lines and some fuzziness, especially at the bottom. The audio sounds great, so I'm pretty sure it's a dirty head issue.
I'm looking for recommendations for a good VCR head cleaning tape. Are there any specific brands from the '80s or '90s that are known to work well, or should I just go with a modern wet-type cleaner? I've heard some of the old dry cleaners can be a bit harsh. I want to make sure I get the best possible picture for my old tapes without risking any damage.
