Lately I’ve been thinking about how focus works in both study and play. Even small distractions can break the flow, whether it’s solving a math problem or doing something simple but precise.

I noticed this when trying out a little indie racing game called Speed Stars. It looks minimal, but every move requires timing and full attention. It’s a surprising reminder that rhythm and concentration are skills we use everywhere.

Do you ever use games or hobbies as a way to train focus?

Speed Stars is one of those games you pick up just for a few minutes and end up playing for hours. The concept is simple: run as fast as you can, but the execution takes skill. It’s strangely addictive watching your times improve, even if it’s just by fractions of a second.
