Hi everyone,
I recently found a box of old VHS tapes from the 80s, and I’d really like to restore and digitize them before they degrade any further. Some of the tapes play with heavy static, color distortion, or lines across the screen, while others won’t play at all.
My question is: what’s the safest and most reliable method to restore old 80s VHS tapes before digitizing them? Should I try cleaning the reels myself, replace the cassette shell, or is it better to leave everything to a professional service? I don’t want to risk damaging the tapes since some contain family recordings. golf hit Any guidance, tips, or recommended tools would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
