tribes of andaman and nicobar islands have six official tribes, including: Great Andamanese, Jarwa, Onge, Sentinelese, Shompen, and Nicobarese. There are four of Andaman group and two of the Nicobar group. Different tribes have unique traditions, language and ways of life. To illustrate, the Nicobarese are much in touch with the contemporary society, but Sentinelese are isolated. To protect their rights and avoid unwarranted contact, the Indian government has allocated the areas known as Tribal Reserve Areas. The measures are protective and contribute to preservation of their cultural identity and their survival in the fast changing world.
